Drawn by Robert K Dawson for the Parliamentary Reform Act of 1832. As an integral part of this political change, Dawson was commissioned to conduct surveys and report back to HM Government on any changes to Borough boundaries that might be considered necessary in order to complete the successful introduction of the Reform Act. The plan of Gloucester includes outlying villages and hamlets, detailing Farms, Mills, Churches, and buildings of importance making it an important resource for local historians and those researching family history. Also featured is the river island of Alney formed by the Severn and the ancient Roman Ermine Street.
