The 1922 Times Survey Atlas of the World, prepared at The Edinburgh Geographical Institute under the direction of J.G. Bartholomew was the first world atlas produced by the Bartholomew firm for The Times. Our Europe collection contains many maps from this atlas, including the Political Map of Europe and many finely detailed maps depicting individual countries.
A fascinating map available in this collection is the Political Map of The New States of Europe in 1919. Revised frontiers and new states according to the peace treaties at the end of the First World War are shown in red lines and red lettering superimposed on political colouring of 1914.
